Easter Holiday pt. 1

My London welcoming committee:  Organic & Dairy Free Blueberry Breakfast Cake with Creme Fraiche and a steamy cuppa coffee.  Sitting at the Cake Shop at the London Review Bookstore Cake Shop. this was the perfect first stop after the busy adventure I had just getting to London.  Not to mention it is not far from the hostel I am staying at and just around the corner from the British Museum (which I will be hitting up shortly). The cake was divine.  Sweet and moist.  And a conversation starter as I sat there discussing favorite cake combinations with the shop owner.

I left early Tuesday morning from Münster using what I think of as a cyber hitchhiking site.  Finding someone who was driving to Düsseldorf I went along for the ride at a fraction of the price a train ticket would cost.  It's also a much friendlier way to travel if you are going alone.  My only problem was that the bus leaving for the airport didn't depart until 3:30 AM!  So my day was filled with walking, sleeping along the "beach" of the Rhine River, and stopping in to various cafe's for a coffee, beer, or a meal.  Later hitting up the cinema for Slumdog Millionaire auf Deutsch, which I can now do without any problems understanding.

Düsseldorf was fine, though nothing spectacular.  They seem to have a good deal of culture happening which I suppose isn't so surprising as it is the governing capital of the most densely populated Bundesland (state) in Germany.   I spent a lot of time walking around the Oberhausen neighborhood which was simply gorgeous although I am assuming expensive.  There seemed to be a lot of money in the city.  Anyhow...I somehow found a way to fill up the time until 3:30 and tiredly made my way to London.  A city that I am enjoying immensely despite it's fast pace dueling with my lack of sleep.  More on that later.
